Sign-Off and SSB recorded circa 1992

The sign-off is preceded by a station ID bumper promoting the Hampton Jazz Festival Silver Anniversary. The sign-off uses a computer-generated animation of the "Spirit 13" logo. The "On This Day" video seen in the two previous WVEC-TV sign-offs (linked below) has been replaced by a National Anthem video featuring the United States Navy's Blue Eagles Flight Demonstration Squadron. A quick station ID and color bars completes the clip.
WVEC-TV was launched in September 1953 by Peninsula Broadcasting Corporation, a group of local stockholders headed by Hampton businessman Thomas P. Christman. Channel 13 was locally owned and operated until 1980 when the station was sold. Today WVEC is owned by Tegna, the Gannett Company's former broadcast and digital media arm. WVEC sent its digital signal via VHF channel 13 up until mid-2020, when it relocated to digital Channel 11 (it is still virtual Channel 13).
