Sign-Off recorded circa 1982

Sign-off of the station known nowadays as Fox Rochester, back in the day before it was such. From its intial sign-on as Rochester's first commercial UHF station in January 1980 up to becoming a charter affiliate of the Fox Network in October 1986, WUHF-TV was a typical independent, running lots of cartoons, old sitcoms, dramas, movies and religious programs. WUHF is currently owned by Sinclair Broadcast Group.
The video kicks off with the final seconds of a program that was syndicated by the Lexington Broadcast Service Company (LBS). Following an animated WUHF 31 station ID comes the sign-off announcement, running a mere seventeen seconds, mentioning only the studio and transmitter locations. The MOOG SSB film comes right after this, with the first few seconds cut off (kettle drum roll). The final seconds of the SSB film is also cut when the color bars appear at the end of the video.
On K.M. Richards' UHF Television site, there is an article about UHF in Rochester by Scott Fybush entitled "Rochester's Long Wait For (W)UHF".
