Sign-Off recorded circa 1982
Page modified Monday, 10 August 2020
WMTW-TV 8 is the longest-tenured ABC network affiliate in New England. It was known for decades as Mount Washington TV, for its transmitter and tower was located atop the highest peak in the Northwestern U.S., namely Mount Washington (since 2002 it transmits from a tower near West Baldwin). The sign-off uses several static slides, first the "ei8ht's The Place" ID, then the ABC network logo, then a pic of the station's studio building (the Ricker Inn), the transmitter atop Mount Washington, and finally the early-1980s version of the NAB Television Code Seal. If a SSB or any patriotic or religious piece preceded or followed this sign-off, it was not included in this poorly-digitized recording.
