Acoustic Guitar ATB Sign-Off recorded June 1993
Page modified Monday, 15 June 2020
This sign-off of Roanoke's CBS station features a wonderful acoustic guitar rendition of "America The Beautiful" by Brad Jones, presumably a local musician, which serves as background music for a video montage of various points of interest in the Old Dominion State.
WDBJ 7 is the most-watched TV station in the Roanoke Valley. The station received unwanted national attention on the 26th of August 2013 when staff reporter Allison Parker and photojournalist Adam Ward were fatally shot while doing a live interview on WDBJ's early news show Mornin'. The gunman was one Vester Lee Flanagan, a.k.a. Bryce Williams, a former WDBJ reporter who was fired by the station six months earlier because of disciplinary problems. After a five-hour manhunt, Flanagan turned the gun on himself during a car chase with police, and died later that day in a hospital at Falls Church VA (near Washington DC).
