Another telecast day comes to an end for the Green Mountain State's first and oldest TV station. WCAX-TV has been a CBS affiliate since its debut in September 1954 as WMVT (the calls were changed to WCAX-TV the following year). Until June 2017, when Gray Television acquired the station, Channel 3 was one of few TV stations, excluding network O&O's, to have the same owner, channel number and network affiliation all of its life on the air. From 1995 to 1997, WCAX-TV has a secondary affiliation with the Fox Network, carrying their kids and sports programming, including NFL football

The sign-off begins with a title graphic featuring a full moon and a listing of Channel 3's three translator stations. It even has a piece of original cartoon art included, a "GOOD NIGHT" title with a bear in a nightshirt and cap holding a candle. The SSB film, most likely produced by the United States Marine Corps, features views of the Iwo Jima Memorial in Washington, D.C.
