|KTHI-TV Channel 11 (now KVLY-TV)|
Fargo/Grand Forks, North Dakota
Sign-Off and SSB recorded 14 October 1983
Page updated and modified Saturday, 8 August 2020
The sign-off announcement features only a static graphic of a view of the Red River of the North, where the cities of Fargo and Grand Forks are situated, with the station's logo superimposed on it. The National Anthem film was presumably prepared by the North Dakota Air National Guard, for there is a scene in which some servicemen are marching from the entrance of a building bearing that name.
Fargo's Channel 11 commenced operations as KXGO-TV in October 1959 as an ABC-TV network outlet. In 1963 the calls were changed to KEND-TV, but were changed again the following year to KTHI-TV. Channel 11 would retain those call letters up to May 1995 when it took the current KVLY-TV. Two months before this video was recorded, Channel 11 had swapped network affiliations with the previous NBC station in Fargo, WDAY-TV Channel 6.
