The year 1976 was the year of the United States' Bicentennial celebration. It was also the year that the video cassette recorder (VCR) began appearing in U.S. living rooms. This sign-off of Tampa's long-time former CBS network affiliate (1955-94, now a Fox O&O station) is among the earliest home videos of a TV station sign-off to currently exist. According to Big13.net, the Channel 13 logo featured here was designed especially for the U.S. Bicentennial year; thirteen stars around the number 13, signifying the original thirteen U.S. colonies. The sign-off consists of the TV 13 logo graphic, a copyright statement graphic, and a NAB Seal of Good Practice "Member In Good Standing" graphic. The clip concludes with the U.S. Navy Hymn film, the same one featured in Spokane's KHQ-TV "Q-6" Sign-off from 1985.
