| Detroit Public TV shuts down its analog transmitter at 12 noon local time on 16 April 2009 instead of the 12th of June as originally scheduled. The analog transmitter used by WTVS had become a real clunker, having failed seven times since the start of 2009. After a DPTV Kids Club promo featuring Barney the Dinosaur comes a video overview of good-ol' Channel 56's 54 years of service, with clips of local programs as well as PBS's Sesame Street. Following this, as a courtesy to the numerous WTVS viewers in southwestern Ontario, Canada, the Canadian National Anthem is played, followed by the one of the United States of America. |
