| WTKR-TV News Channel 3, Norfolk VA Sign-Off and Sign-On from 2010 (widescreen HD) |
|
| The first TV station in the Norfolk/Hampton
Roads area of Virginia (and Virginia's second, behind
WTVR 6 in Richmond) is one of a few stations in the U.S.
that still signs off for a little time on the weekends,
though it airs their Weather Radar during the off-period
instead of color bars or just cutting the carrier. The
sign-off and sign-on is essentially the same video with
slight changes in the visuals and the aural announcement.
The sign-off is followed by a widescreen SSB video
consisting of photos of Washington D.C. landmarks with
photos of Mount Rushmore and the Statue of Liberty thrown
in for good measure. The WTKR weather radar follows the
SSB, which will run for an hour and a half (from 2:59 AM
to 4:29 AM Easten Time) before the sign-on announcement
appears. RELATED VIDEO CLIP: WTKR-TV Channel 3 Sign-off and Sign-on from 2006 RELATED AUDIO CLIPS (from when Norfolk's channel 3 was WTAR-TV): WTAR-TV 3
