The Public Broadcasting Servive (PBS) station for the Florida Panhandle concluded 42 years of analog transmissions at 12:00 midnight. Not only was this the final sign-off for WSRE-TV, it was the final signal originating from Channel 23's transmitter located on the campus of Pensacola Junior College, WSRE's licensee (the college became Pensacola State the following year). Two hours after the analog shutdown, the station returned to the air utilizing its digital transmitter located in Robertsdale, Alabama.

This clip features portions of previous WSRE-TV sign-offs along with an explanation of TV sign-offs in general, along with some vintage photos of Channel 23's studios and programming. The station bids its analog viewers adieu with an image of a 1970s-era portable TV with snow (after this, the carrier was cut, which is not seen on this recording).
