Sign-Off recorded Summer 1989
Page updated and modified Thursday, 2 July 2020
A "bare bones" sign-off, with a static station ID graphic and a brief announcement, and, after several seconds of black, the color bars appear with ear-splitting double-tone. The sign-off is preceded by the tail-end of the Saturday Night Movie and an CGI animated Fox-styled station ID clip.
WLFL, whose callsign originally stood for "We're Light for Living", first signed on in December 1981 as the Raleigh/Durham market's first independent TV station. As such, its program offerings was typical indie fare as in westerns, sitcoms, cartoons and old movies as well as inspirational programs. WLFL became one of the charter affiliates of the Fox Network in October 1986, but joined the WB network in 1998 (now The CW network, which Channel 22 is still affiliated) when Fox departed and gave its affiliation to WRAZ-TV Channel 50.
The Webmaster apologies for the poor recording, for this is how the station was received that night.
