From the Syracuse Nostalgia website comes this clip from the city's ABC Television Network outlet, consisting of an computer-generated sation ID graphic, sign-off announcement and music. It is followed by a brief America The Beautiful film of unknown origin that starts off with a couple of views of the Grand Canyon. Color bars with the WIXT logo closes out the video

Syracuse's Channel 9 has been an ABC-TV affiliate since it first took to the air in September 1962 as WNYS-TV. Like many U.S. TV stations, Channel 9 underwent numerous ownership changes over the years. One such change in 1978 resulted in the call letters becoming WIXT, and another in 2001 to Clear Channel Communications (now iHeartMedia), owners of WSYR Radio AM 570, saw the call change to the current WSYR-TV. As of this writing, WSYR-TV has changed hands twice since 2001 and is currently owned by Nexstar Broadcasting Group.

BONUS AUDIO CLIP: a Channel 9 sign-off from circa 1978, the first year as WIXT
