WHKY-TV Channel 14, Hickory, North Carolina
Sign-Off and ATB recorded Summer 1989

Page modified Wednesday, 1 July 2020

This sign-off of independent WHKY-TV was recorded by the Webmaster from his home near Winston-Salem NC. WHKY-TV, launched on Valentine's Day 1968, is still an independent, the oldest indie TV station in North Carolina, and is still owned by the Long family (Long Communications, LLC), who founded its parent AM 1290 radio station of the same call sign back in 1940. The sign-off is preceded by the final few seconds of a PSA on the subject of skin cancer. An United States Marine Corps "America The Beautiful" video follows the sign-off, then color bars.
