|A thirty-second sign-off featuring only
video of the front of WHIZ--TV's studio building followed
by an animated station ID graphic. If an SSB film or
anything followed the sign-off, it apparently was not
included in this recording. WHIZ-TV is among the oldest
continuously operating UHF-TV stations in the U.S.,
signing on in May 1953 on Channel 50, switching to
Channel 18 two years later. WHIZ-TV has been an NBC-TV
network affiliate since its inception, but had secondary
affiliations with ABC, CBS and DuMont networks up until
1966. The station's call letters stand for "We're
Here In Zanesville".
