| Another telecast day in 1987 comes to an end
for the Green Mountain State's first and oldest TV
station. WCAX-TV has been a CBS affiliate since its
inception in September 1954, and is one of the few TV
stations, excluding network O&O's, to have the same
owner, channel number and network affiliation all of its
life on the air. The sign-off begins with a title graphic
featuring a full moon and a listing of Channel 3's three
translator stations. It even has a piece of original
cartoon art included, a "GOOD NIGHT" title with
a bear in a nightshirt holding a candle. The SSB film,
probably produced by the United States Marine Corps,
features the Iwo Jima Memorial in Washington, D.C. RELATED
