|Another sign-off clip recorded and
contributed by Matt Sittel of Belleview, Nebraska. At the
time he made this he was attending North Carolina State
University in Raleigh, which may explain the unstable
video and static-ridden audio. There's no identification
of which of the eleven SCETV stations this was airchecked
from, but the Webmaster assumes it was either from
WNSC-TV 30 in Rock Hill or WJPM-TV 33 in Florence, the
two that's nearest to NCSU. The video features what
appears to be computer-generated animation of the planet
Earth, then to the SCETV logo and color bars, which has
the date of this recording superimposed over them.
The origins of the SCETV Network goes back to 8 September 1958, when closed-circuit telecourses of French and geometry were first telecast from the library of Dreher High School in Columbia SC. Five years later, WNTV Channel 29 in Greenville, the first of the eleven SCETV broadcast stations, was launched. SCETV also operates the eight-station South Carolina Public Radio network, which began in 1972.
