| California's capital city ABC network station terminates analog broadcasting with an extended edition of their 11 PM newscast (ABC's Nightline was pre-empted for the occasion). This is the final seven or so minutes of that newscast, anchored by Dale Schornack. The clip begins with a news story about an local antique collector's 1953 special edition of the Sacramento Bee newspaper heralding the arrival of TV in Sacramento. After a commercial for Comcast Cable, Schornack returns to deliver the sign-off, but the technician at the analog transmitter was about a minute slow in pushing the "off" switch. After a five-second pause, Schornack begins speaking to the cable/satellite audience, believing that the analog has shut down already. |
