A 5 AM official start of the broadcast day clip from KTLA's final months as an affiliate of The WB Nerwork (WB would become The CW later in 2006). It is preceded by a promo for a KTLA news special, When Disaster Strikes, and is followed by a promo for an upcoming telecaast of a L.A. Clippers NBA game versus the Sacramento Kings.
KTLA was the first commercial TV station west of the Mississippi River to take to the air, commencing on the 22nd of January 1947. Channel 5 is L.A.'s home of The CW network. In 1985 Chicago-based Tribune Broadcasting, of WGN Radio and TV fame, acquired KTLA. After an aborted attempt by Sinclair Broadcast Group to buy out Tribune, Nexstar Media Group, KTLA's current licensee, took over Tribune in September 2019.
