| It's the end of another telecast day for Lafayette's station of the Louisiana Public Broadcasting network, hence the LPB in its call sign. The sign-off is of a standard variety, just a static station ID graphic with voice-over. The SSB film appears to be one of several produced by the U.S. Marine Corps, highlighting the Iwo Jima Memorial statue in Washington DC. In this case, however, WLPB-TV has the lyrics to "The Star Spangled Banner" (first stanza) scrolling up the screen, in synchronization with the band music. Therefore, any American living in the Lafayette area who saw KLPB-TV's sign-off has no excuse for not knowing the words of his/her country's National Anthem! |
