The clip commences with a brief program promo for The Twilight Zone (the 1987-88 syndicated version, not Rod Serling's original 1959-1964 show). The sign-off video portrays a man chilling out in his recliner watching TV (presumably it's tuned to Channel 28). Realizing its time to turn in, he gets off the recliner, lets his dog outdoors, staggers off to the bedroom, and puts out the light. To the webmaster, this sign-off is slightly reminicent of sign-on and sign-off clips used by WDBJ-TV 7 in Roanoke, Virginia in the late 1970s, when he was in high school (oh to find video of those!). There's no patriotic film at the end, as the color bars immediately follow the sign-off.

KAYU-TV first began telecasting in October 1982 as Spokane's first independent TV station. It became a charter affiliate of the Fox Television Network in October 1986 and remains Spokane's Fox outlet to this day.
