WCYB-TV Channel 5, Bristol VA-TN
Sign-Off from 1988

Starts off with the end title of the "Daily Devotions" program, then on to a little tour of the WCYB-TV broadcast facilities, and then to the Star Spangled Banner film. I've got this same sign-off clip on the Virginia sign-offs page, but that one, recorded sometime in 1989, has rather fuzzy reception and used the "Aim High America" SSB film. This 1988 recording was contributed by Matt Sittel, who was residing in Kingsport at the time he made this beautifully-clear clip.

WATE-TV Channel 6, Knoxville TN
Sign-Off and Sign-On from 1988

Combined sign-off and sign-on in one clip. Apparently, there was a thunderstorm somewhere in the area the night the sign-off portion was recorded, which would account for the static in both the audio and video. The sign-on is in better shape and is preceded by a WATE-TV 6 ID slide.Both clips has only the first several seconds of the U.S. Air Force "Aim High America" SSB film. The historic Greystone Mansion featured in both clips was built after the Civil War, and since the mid-1960s has served as the home of WATE-TV 6.

WJHL-TV Channel 11, Johnson City TN Sign-Off and Sign-On from 1988

Combined sign-off and sign-on in one clip. It is not known whether the clips were recorded the same morning or not. The sign-off is preceded by the tail-end of CBS Late Night and an Eyewitness News 11 Update, and is followed by the first twenty seconds of the SSB. The sign-on is preceded by ten seconds of color bars. Both the sign-off and sign-on features video of the mountains in the east Tennessee area.

WSJK-TV Channel 2, Sneedville TN Sign-Off and Sign-On from 1988

Combined sign-off and sign-on of the University of Tennessee public TV station. The sign-off is missing the first several seconds where the call letters are announced, and ends with an abrupt cutting of the carrier. The sign-on is preceded by the final fifteen seconds of the "Moog SSB" clip (to see the Moog SSB clip, go to the Los Angeles Sign-Off Page).
